Veterans United named one of the country's 2016 Best Workplaces for Women

September 15, 2016

COLUMBIA, Mo. Veterans United Home Loans, a full-service VA lender, is proud to announce Great Place to Work® and Fortune have named it one of the country's 2016 Best Workplaces for Women, coming in at No. 30 on the list.

Veterans United's ranking is based on employees' assessments of communications with management, options for development and training, and support for work-life balance, among other factors. The ranking also takes into account how well-represented women are within the workforce overall and in management and executive positions.

At Veterans United we strive to foster an environment of open and honest communication between all of us," said Dr. Amanda Andrade, chief people officer at Veterans United Home Loans. Using our values as our guide, we work to meet each other wherever we are in life and to find ways to support and care for one another. More than 50 percent of our VU family is comprised of women; so much of the focus of our culture is supporting the lives and interests of our female employees. Receiving this recognition is both an honor and reminder of our commitment to providing a workplace culture that enhances the lives of our employees.

Both women and men at who work for companies who were named Best Workplaces for Women feel their employers provide ample opportunities to grow and advance in their careers, and provide them with the flexibility they want to balance their work and personal lives.

"There's a strong correlation between being able to talk openly with company executives and feeling like a workplace is fair," said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. Traditionally, communication channels with leaders have been less available to women than to men. The Best Workplaces for Women do well at paving the way for those open dialogs, and as a result, women are more likely to feel they get fair consideration in their jobs and careers. Congratulations to these great companies they are showing everyone how to create a Great Place to Work for all.

The Best Workplaces for Women ranking is part of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and Fortune based upon employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work®-Certified organizations.
