Veterans United Home Loans recognized as one of the top workplaces in the country for Millennials

June 27, 2017

COLUMBIA, Mo. - “For the second year in a row, Veterans United Home Loans has been named one of the country's 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials in 2017. The full-service, national lender with corporate offices in Columbia, Mo., Lenexa, Kan. and Irving, Texas, focuses on VA Home Loans and was chosen as No. 9 in the country. The list, released by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE, took into consideration more than 398,000 surveys that assessed organizations' fairness, teamwork, benefits and other elements essential to an outstanding work culture.

"Collectively we put a tremendous emphasis on promoting a workplace culture that connects all of our employees," said Dr. Amanda Andrade, Veterans United Chief People Officer. "We strive to meet our folks where they are at in their lives and provide opportunities to evolve and grow both professionally and personally. To be recognized on this list for the second straight year is a testament to the inclusive environment Veterans United encourages. We are focused on enhancing lives as our mission, and we are happy that it shows in the way our employees connect with each other and our Veterans."

While many companies report high turnover among younger workers, an average of 85 percent of millennial front-line employees at the Best Workplaces say they want to work at their organizations for a long time.

Ninety-nine percent of employees at Veterans United who completed the surveys said they work in a great atmosphere, and they take great pride in the company. Ninety-eight percent said people celebrate special events in the workplace and they feel good about the ways the company contributes to the community. Ninety-seven percent of employees said their workplace is great, the company offers great rewards, people care about each other in the workplace, management is competent at running the business and the company promotes great communication.

"Millennials expect more from their employers in areas like fair treatment, clear communication, authentic leadership and opportunities for advancement," and rightly so. The Best Workplaces for Millennials are finding that fulfilling all these expectations by building a high-trust culture boosts millennial employees' intent to stay by 20 times, said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work.

The Best Workplaces for Millennials is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work Certified organizations. Veterans United also ranked No. 27 in the 2017 Top 100 Best Companies to Work For by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE.
