People names Veterans United Home Loans No. 3 on 2017 50 Companies That Care list

April 3, 2017

COLUMBIA, Mo. Veterans United Home Loans announced today it was named No. 3 on People's first ever 50 Companies That Care list, jointly chosen by People and Great Place to Work®. The outstanding companies were recognized for going above and beyond to create a caring environment for employees, and for supporting them throughout their professional and personal lives.

At Veterans United we strive to be a community of people who are committed to each other, to our Veterans, service members and their families. We want to work every day to grow, change and improve as people and professionals, said Dr. Amanda Andrade, chief people officer at Veterans United. "As employees we work together to maintain our culture in part by delivering results with integrity, building friendships and focusing on service to others. We open up a wide array of opportunities for people to connect with each other through activities like book and movie clubs, singing in a choir, charity events and even service trips. At the very heart of our culture is the motivation to be there for one another in ways that are meaningful and foster respect and kindness.

Companies were chosen for the list based on anonymous surveys from their employees that confirmed they experience a truly caring environment, plus a high level of trust in their leaders, a healthy company culture and ample camaraderie among their colleagues.

What we found so striking about the Companies That Care was just how personal their employees' stories were. These organizations go out of their way again and again to look after the well-being of their people, both day to day and during personal struggles when they need it the most, said Kim Peters, executive vice president of Great Place to Work®.

The Companies That Care is one of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work® and its partner publications based on employee survey feedback from Great Place to Work Certified organizations.
